You will serve as a SHIPFITTING INSPECTOR LEADER in the Inspection and Assessment Division, Quality Assurance Department of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Duties

You will provide detailed review and certification of all SUBSAFE work accomplished by the shipyard. You will ensure the completeness and accuracy of all data entries made on supporting Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) for all structural SUBSAFE work performed during an availability. You will perform leader and inspection duties of your trade, including reviewing and interpreting specifications, procedures, locally and corporately invoked industrial process instructions, non-nuclear technical work requirements. You will lead employees performing work at the inspector level (under direction of supervisor) in connection with construction, overhaul, testing, and maintenance or modifications of submarine systems You will perform pre-use, in-process, product and test inspections for adherence to exacting specifications, initiating deficiency reports on components, materials, procedures and workmanship that do not meet specifications. You will perform periodic checks of work in progress to ensure that subordinates understand inspection policies, special requirements and assure that safety regulations are followed.

  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
