The Boise VA Medical Center is looking to fill two (2) Lead Medical Support Assistant positions in the Healthcare Administration Service Line. The incumbent serves as a Lead Medical Support Assistant in 531 Boise VA Medical Center. Duties may be performed in Clinic Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC), Inpatient, Call Center, Outpatient Clinic, Enrollment office, or Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model or a Specialty Care Setting involved in a PACT model.

The Lead MSA is responsible for daily workload assessments, assigning work, and assuring proper staffing coverage; evaluating training records; and determining training needs of MSAs to provide support across interdisciplinary settings. The Lead assists the unit with complex and non-standard procedures, including clinical flow processes related to access to care across multiple clinics, inpatient/outpatient, specialties, and/or community resources. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements within 30 days of this announcement closing date 04/15/2024. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency. MSAs must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, part II, chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3j Specialized Experience must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 grade level (1) collaborating with medical clinicians across multiple disciplines, scheduling interdisciplinary appointments, and possessing an advanced knowledge of policies and procedures associated with interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery and/or care in the community OR (2) providing staff development and training, delegating responsibilities/assigning workload to other staff members, following up on issues, and reviewing and monitoring data to ensure reports are complete and accurate. **Resume must include hours per week for work experience credit** Candidates must demonstrate the KSAs below: 1. Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and a wide range of clinical flow processes relating to access to care across multiple clinics, specialties, and/or community resources. 2. Ability to utilize numerous advanced patient care systems in support of multiple clinics in an interdisciplinary setting. 3. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and delegate tasks/responsibilities in order to meet deadlines. 4. Skill in communicating with individuals to obtain the desires effect and coordinating with a variety of interdisciplinary care team staff. 5. Ability to provide staff development and training. 6. Ability to manage staffing requirements, manage workflow priorities, and adjust the flow of work to meet team and patient needs. This includes the ability to follow-up on pending issues and demonstrate an understanding of the impact if incomplete work across multiple clinics.
