This position is with the NAS Enterprise Services Group under the Operations Support Directorate, AJW-1. The NAS Enterprise Services Group is responsible for providing second-level engineering support for NAS equipment, national software, hardware, and technical documentation.

Duties

The Computer Scientist performs multiple, varying, and complex assignments under the limited direction of a manager, project/ program manager, team leader, or more experienced technical specialist. He/she is responsible for the design, development and integration of NAS software. Responsible for testing and evaluating software, identify areas for modification and develop the modifications.

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Qualifications

To view the complete OPM qualification standard for the Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Computer Scientist 1550 Series, please refer to: Computer Science Series 1550 (opm.gov)Basic Requirements:Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H / FG/GS-10-12. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized experience is:Experience developing software source code to fix or enhance functionality of a system.Applicants should include examples of specialized experience in their work history.Qualifications must be met by the closing date of this vacancy announcement.Selection may be made from this announcement or from ACT-ATO-24-AJW1720-89427.
