Duties
As a IT Specialist (INFOSEC) (Direct Hire), you will:
Apply Information Technology (IT) systems security principles and methods in order to recommend appropriate technical strategies to resolve complex and persistent IT security challenges.
Review proposed new systems, networks, and software designs for potential security risks.
Evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs. Identify new processes, techniques, and procedures to upgrade and enhance security protocols. Consult with top management officials to develop strategies and policies that govern implementation of security and reliability procedures throughout the organization.
Prepare and present complex reports on various subjects.
Conduct analyses and recommend resolution of complex issues affecting Ginnie Mae Operations and for ensuring the integration of IT programs and services.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized Experience for this position includes:
- Implementing Information Assurance programs and processes to ensure compliance while maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems and data.
Examples of this experience could include:
- Evaluating the effectiveness of existing Information Assurance programs; OR
- Identifying new processes, techniques, and procedures to upgrade and enhance security protocols; OR
- Consultation with top management officials to develop strategies and policies that govern implementation of security and reliability procedures throughout the organization; OR
- Review of proposed new systems, networks, and software designs for potential security risks; OR
- Adaptation of standard Information Security practices, precedents, techniques, or previous approaches relating to safeguarding information, and supporting vulnerability mitigation; OR
- Oversight of an enterprise-wide automated systems to ensure it has been designed, developed, enhanced, and maintained in accordance with National Institute of Science & Technology (NIST), and Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA) guidance, policies, procedures, and regulations.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
