The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Force Support Squadron (FSS) Deputy, sharing with the commander the full scope of responsibility for managing the activities of the organization. On behalf of the FSS commander, make technical and executive decisions on matters impacting the FSS realm of responsibility.
Duties
As Deputy to the Commander, responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing the activities for the Force Support Squadron (FSS).
Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
Direct, coordinate, and oversee work through subordinate supervisors.
Make a periodic, comprehensive assessment and evaluation of program goals/objectives which provide a basis for long-range planning to enhance the organization's management support capabilities.
Represent the Force Support Squadron (FSS) with a variety of installation, Center, MAJCOM, and Air Force organizations, community partners, and outside agencies.

- PCS expenses if authorized will be paid IAW JTR and Air Force Regulations. This is a Centrally Managed position under the Force Support Career Field.
- The employee must, within 30-days of assuming this position and by 31 October annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report. Employee is required to attend annual ethics and procurement integrity training.
- This position is designated as a Key Position. Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations.
- Employee may be required to travel away IAW Joint Travel Regulations to other government installations, contractor facilities, or other commercial locations for both training and mission accomplishment.
- Mobility is a condition of employment. Employees must sign an Air Force-wide mobility agreement memorandum of understanding, including selection restriction, outplacement tour and mobility agreement, as a condition of employment.
- This position has been designated as an Air Force Force Support Key Career Position (KCP). The assignment will not be continuing and has an established tour limitation of 36-60 months as determined by the U-Career Field Team and Career Field Manager.
- Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status if alternatives for filling of the position during an emergency are not available.
Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience in analytical ability, judgment, discretion, and knowledge of a substantial body of administrative or program principles, concepts, policies, and objectives on challenging and highly complex projects/ programs; leading, overseeing, guiding, and/or managing programs and projects within assigned areas of responsibility; recruiting, developing, motivating, and retaining quality team members in accordance with Equal Employment/Affirmative Action Principles. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Ability to utilize management, leadership, or communication principles and concepts to lead a team of subordinate personnel through coaching, communication, planning, organizing, and direction to facilitate work assignments, Knowledge of practices and procedures related to developing, planning budgeting, and coordinating activities, programs, facility, programming, contracting and customer interest and needs.
Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, lead a team, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies. Skill in managing the work operations of multiple organizations segments to meet program requirements, goals, and objectives with available resources.
Knowledge of a wide range of manpower, concepts, principles, operations, laws, regulations, programs, and practices; knowledge of a wide range of personnel (civilian and military) concepts, principles, operations, laws, regulations, programs, and practices; knowledge of a wide range of service concepts, principles, operations, laws, regulations, programs, and practices, and practical knowledge of education, readiness, and budget execution concepts, principles, operations, and practices.
Extensive knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structure, management, and operation of large organizations to provide high level staff guidance and participate in the development of goals, objectives, and policies.
Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, Military, Equal Opportunity (MEO) and EEO regulations, practices and procedures
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
