This position is being filled under the memorandum from the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness. Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense dated October 15, 2021.
This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will perform assessment duties using IT system analysis, security specialties and serve as primary cyber security (CS) advisor for assessment teams.
Duties
As a IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) at the GG-2210-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Developing methods to measure risk, compliance, and assurance; evaluating compliance with information technology security.
Performing validation steps, comparing actual results with expected results and analyze the differences to identify impact and risks.
Conferring with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and others to obtain information on application limitations and capabilities.
Developing and directing software system testing and validation procedures; developing threat model based on test results.
Researching, analysis and preparation of concise point paper summaries of assessments and events.
Identifying technical and procedural findings, and providing recommended remediation strategies/solutions.

- Occasional travel is required, including air travel throughout the United States and to overseas sites where U.S. and/or coalition forces are deployed is expected.
- Typical travel duration is 2 - 5 nights, usually not exceeding one trip per month, CONUS and OCONUS. A trip could be longer in duration if required.
- Incumbent may sometimes be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
Qualifications
You may qualify at the GG 13 , if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the 12 grade level in the Federal service as listed below:
Applying total infrastructure protection environment, systems security certification and accreditation requirements and processes and Federal/DoD information systems security protocols in order to integrate information systems security with other security disciplines;
Projecting management principles, methods, and practices, in order to develop plans and schedules;
Applying business processes engineering concepts and methods in order to lead/conduct studies.
Certifications in one or more of the following: PMP, CISM, Cisco, CCNA/CCNP Security, Wireless, Cloud; or Certified Software Systems Lifecycle Professional.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
