Duties

Conduct special and/or complex inspections, investigations and inquiries involving high-level commanders and sensitive issues. Plan the investigation/inspection/inquiry, collects data (including interviewing witnesses) or directs other team members in the collection of data, evaluates evidence, and prepares recommendations and/or reports. Analyze management reports such as workload and performance analysis, investigates unusual variations, and recommends actions including adjustments in personnel staffing, temporary details, overtime, etc. Perform the full range of supervisory duties related to personnel management including developing performance standards, evaluating employee performance, making selections of new employees, and using conflict resolution with discipline. Participate in the operation, management, and direction of a comprehensive Inspector General (IG) program to meet the needs of the division and serviced clients. Provide technical guidance on command activities in the Fort Riley IG office. Serve as the Chief, Assistance and Investigation in the management and direction of day-to-day operations and long-range planning. Develop installation-wide/internal inspection, investigations, assistance, and administrative policies and procedures for the Inspector General function. Investigate and resolve cases of alleged improprieties and misconduct by military personnel and DoD civilians assigned to Fort Riley. Receive and analyze all incoming complaints to include referrals from the Department of the Army Inspector General, Department of Defense Hotline complaints and Whistleblower Reprisal allegations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance through the duration of your employment.
  • The incumbent of this position must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station up to 10% of the time.
  • Incumbent must attend and pass the Inspector General School, as well as periodic sustainment training and recertification IAW AR 20-1.
