The primary purpose of this position is to be responsible for managing and supervising the execution of experiential and immersive learning curriculum and associated Group Staff, oversees the preparation of assignments, exercises, demonstrations, training aids, and related materials required for immersive experiential learning within education and training programs.
Duties
Plans, develops, executes and evaluates a comprehensive range of immersive experiential educational and training approaches for educational and training curriculum and development.
Teaches in support or relevant Air University programs as required and serves as lead for faculty development opportunities in support of Air University's and OTS's mission.
Evaluates courses, making adjusting as necessary to the immersive experiential design of the curriculum application, learning experience design methodologies, immersive technology implementation, schedules, etc., based on internal and external evaluation analysis including graduate and supervisor feedback and input from other instructors.
Accomplishes special projects and conducts individual and student research.
Develops and maintains professional contacts with a variety of levels and organizational elements, Major Commands, Air Staff, DoD, other government agencies, Air University.

- Because of the nature of the Air University education programs, incumbent may be required to teach graduate level courses across SOS, the eSchool of Graduate PME, ACSC, lecture-hall, classroom and online teaching sessions.
- Work experience in Professional Military Education and with company grade officers is highly desired.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include initiating, developing, maintaining, and executing delivery of experimental and educationally sound military school and associated curriculum; overseeing staff and instructor preparation and delivery for experiential and immersive curriculum; conducting relevant research, teaching in military educational programs; conducting analysis to determine the requirements for revision of existing instructional systems or development of new training programs; planning total support, (i.e., personnel, equipment, facilities, budget, and other resource requirements) for instructional programs; and creating project management plans for the development of training courses.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Professional knowledge in one or more of the following fields: organizational leadership, organizational behavior, critical thinking, psychology, multi-domain operations or associated fields, as well as learning theory and the principles, methods, practices, and techniques of the instructional systems field to administer, advise on, design, develop, or provide educational or training services in formal training programs.
Knowledge of and ability to follow foundational instructional design and development processes to analyze, research, design and write educationally sound instructional materials and instructor guides for use in classroom instruction and to construct and validate appropriate evaluation instruments to determine level and extent of student learning and achievement.
Knowledge of educational resources, program, principles, policies, practices, and techniques of educational instruction for the adult learner, as well as training resources programs, principles, and policies.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to deliver rich and engaging lectures, for both in resident and online programs.
Ability to establish instructional program objectives and assess program toward their achievement and accomplishing special educational/instructional group research studies and projects. Ability to work effectively and constructively with various groups in accomplished assigned projects in both lead and follower capacity.
Ability to analyze problems related to instructional material or support equipment and develop timely and economical solutions such as develop finished products including lesson plans, training texts, television programs, programmed texts, or computer assisted instruction.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
There is no education requirement or applicable education substitution for experience.
PhD in in related field is highly desired.
********************ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR ACTIVE DUTY SERVICES MEMBERS********************
ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE MEMBERS: The VOW Act requires federal agencies to treat an eligible active duty service member as a veteran, disabled veteran, and preference eligible (as applicable) when applying for civil service positions before the effective release or discharge date. Appointment of military members before the release or discharge date is permissible if the member is on terminal leave. At the time the active duty member applies for a civil position, he or she must submit a "certification" memo in lieu of a DD-Form 214,
Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty. Active duty members applying for a civil service position without submitting a valid certification memo or DD-Form 214 with their application will render the member ineligible for the position. The certification memo must originate from the member's military service branch on official letterhead and contain the following:
- Name/Rank/Grade of Service Member
- Branch of Armed Forces
- Dates of Active Service (Start and End Date(s)
- Expected Date of Discharge/Release from Active Duty
- Terminal leave start date (if applicable)
- Expected character of service (honorable or general) and type of separation (i.e. separation or retirement)
- Must be certified within 120 days of anticipated discharge
- Signature by, or by direction of the adjutant, personnel office, unit commander, or higher headquarters commander.
