This position is located at Departmental Offices,Management CFO- Info Systems and CIO. As an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC), you will provide leadership and expert technical advice on developing and implementing policies, programs, and procedures to ensure the security and reliability of information systems throughout the organization.

Duties

As a/an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC), you will: Provide technical expertise to the design, development, and implementation of information security policies and procedures. Conduct risk assessment programs to identify areas of potential vulnerability in operating systems used throughout the organization. Analyze findings and develop long-range plans for security systems that minimize risks, mitigate vulnerabilities, prevent security incidents, and insure systems reliability. Consult with other IT Specialists to make recommendations on strategies and policies that govern implementation of security and reliability procedures throughout the organization. Plan for and conduct systems security evaluations, audits, and reviews. Gather and analyze findings; organize documentation, consults with systems users, and develops recommendations used to identify and define systems security requirements. Provides technical advice and leadership on security aspects of network and systems design to ensure implementation of appropriate systems security applications and policies.

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: - Developing plans to safeguard IT system data against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure and to meet emergency data processing needs. AND - Reviewing violations of computer security procedures and protective measures, providing reports as required and making recommendations for appropriate corrective actions. AND - Coordinating implementation of computer security technical solutions and/or corrective actions with system stakeholders. AND - Performing research of IT security threat environments, technologies and solutions and presenting consolidated analyses with associated weaknesses, recommended actions and plans for implementation to senior managers. In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. TIME-IN-GRADE: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks. TIME AFTER COMPETITIVE APPOINTMENT: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
