Duties
The Biologist is responsible for conceiving, planning and conducting highly specialized research in areas of specialization (reef ecology, urban estuarine ecology, or marine biodiversity conservation) and expected to perform scholarly research and participate in making contribution to the biological, ecological physical or chemical fields of science.

Qualifications
BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Applicants must meet A or B to satisfy the basic education requirement for Biologist.
A. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the specialized experience listed below:
GS-09 Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal Service. For this position Specialized experience is defined researching, investigating oyster reef ecology or marine biodiversity conservation, or related subject area.
OR
Master’s or equivalent graduate degree or 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such degree.
