About the Position: Performs law enforcement work to maintain law and order, preserve the peace, protect life and civil rights, detect and investigate crimes, apprehend violators, and perform patrols within the jurisdiction of the military installation.
Duties
Serve as Shift Supervisor to the police force planning and assigning work and evaluating performance.
Exercise search and apprehension authority, detain witnesses, apprehends suspects, interviews witnesses, and determine whether facts warrant apprehension or lesser action.
Perform protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts.
Conduct traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar, and breathalyzer.
Use word processing and web-based law enforcement computer programs to establish, update, query or print detailed reports, forms, and citations.
Requirements
- This position requires you to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires you to meet the requirements in accordance with the Army Regulation 190-56 The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program.
- This position requires you to be successfully graduated from the United States Military Police School Civilian Police Academy, a current approved waiver, or grandfathered from the Office of Provost Marshal General.
- This position requires you to successfully pass trainings, certifications, and qualifications requirements related to law enforcement functions as prescribed by policy, regulations, or statutes.
- This position requires a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires successful completion of a Physical Ability Test also known as a Physical Agility Test within 30 days of appointment into the position and complete annually thereafter to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires you to comply with and maintain the Individual Reliability Program requirements.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This act bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations you are required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- The duties of this position require you to possess and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states to operate vehicles.
- The duties of this position require you to possess or obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator’s license to operate vehicles.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis and/or work on call during irregular work hours.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- This position requires you to wear a Department of the Army Civilian Police uniform and maintain a high standard of appearance and hygiene.
- This position requires you to be able to wear chemical-protection equipment.
- This position requires you to complete a one year supervisory probation period to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- You are subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or in judicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.

Experience assisting in the direction of subordinate law enforcement personnel and performing a range of law enforcement duties that demonstrate physical security, anti-terrorism, report writing, apprehend violators, access control, traffic law enforcement, conduct preliminary or ongoing investigations of incidents, issuance of citations, conduct on the spot corrections, and maintaining order and protecting life and property.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
