Duties

CONTINUED FROM SUMMARY to provide office automation support using multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents. *************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** DUTIES Processes standard actions for assigned area such as assignments, enlistment, reenlistment, promotion, awards, performance evaluation, routine boards, separation, or similar matters and performs a substantive review of records to determine eligibility for actions. Review reports, forms, documentation, and other related information concerning military members and constructs/maintains military personnel records or portion pertinent to assigned area. Updates, inquireies, and processes actions through the Personnel Data System and Defense Joint Military Pay System (DJMS). Performs clerical support to ensure efficient office operations. Use multiple office automation software with varied functionsto produce a wide range of documents, formats, etc., pertaining to assigned area of military personnel.

  • Includes assisting in the Deployment Cycle Support (DCS) and manifesting, which may require a non-routine work schedule.
  • The incumbent must have the ability to type a minimum of 40 WPM.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of general experience at the next lower grade GS-3, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of general experience that has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, general experience includes progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed 2 (two) years education above high school. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT COPIES OF YOUR OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: have less than the full amount of experience as described in A and have less than the full amount of education described in B. Therefore, have a combination of experience as described in A and education as described in B above. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT COPIES OF YOUR OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the military personnel regulations and procedures relating to transactions processed. Knowledge of military organizational structure, protocol, and similar matters. Knowledge of general office administrative and clerical procedures. Knowledge of the military personnel automated system and of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. Skills in typing; a qualified typist is required. Ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
