This position is located in the Government Accountability Office. As a Supervisory IT Specialist (INFOSEC) you will be responsible for GAO's information security program. The Director establishes GAO policy and guidance on IT security; assesses information systems and technology for security capabilities; monitors IT security risks, controls, and effectiveness; and fosters agency-wide security awareness.
Duties
As a Supervisory IT Specialist (INFOSEC), MS- 2210- 2 your typical work assignments may include the following:
Oversees the use of a cybersecurity risk management framework to define cybersecurity metrics and other key performance indicators.
Oversees the process to coordinate internal and external audits and investigations across the IT infrastructure.
Oversees effective implementation and oversight of agency policies, processes, and procedures as they pertain to the compliance with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidance and GAO's internal Performance and Accountability reporting requirements.
Serves as a Designated Performance Manager.
Coordinates and seek top management support and direction for implementing information security measures in the organization.
Qualifications
You must have IT related experience demonstrating these four competencies: 1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail; 2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services; 3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately; and 4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14/MS-I grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability to overseeing processes to coordinate internal and external evaluations, audits and investigations across the IT infrastructure, cybersecurity risk management framework; overseeing implementation and oversight of agency policies, processes, and procedures; assessing the threat landscape and implementing security technologies and standards..
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
