This position is located in DoD OIG, Mission Support Team, Human Capital Management, Joint Inspector General Activities Division.
Duties
Serves as a Defense OIG Training Specialist in support of the DoD OIG mission.
Interfaces with Joint and Defense Agency IGs and other Federal Agency OIGs coordinating Joint IG Policy. Reviews and updates the DoD Issuances for Defense/Joint IGs and the DoD Joint IG Guides.
Conducts a dialog with Combatant Command and Defense Agency OIGs to ensure that the procedures/processes outlined in the Guides are relevant and applicable.
In accordance with the ISD or SAT models, design and develop all courseware required to support effective training in a residence, virtual, or mobile learning environment.
Researches, coordinates, and prepares briefings/replies for various tasks, correspondence, point papers, etc.
Leads and coordinates residence, virtual, and mobile training courses.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Position has been designated as Noncritical Sensitive. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service (see http://www.sss.gov).
- Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.
- Current DoD civilian employees are not required to submit to drug testing if moving from one Testing Designated Position (TDP) to another with no break in service, unless deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis.
- The incumbent must adhere to the DoD Standards of Conduct.
Qualifications
Time in Grade: For entry at the GS-13 level, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 in the federal service or equivalent or higher grade.
Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-12) or equivalent within the federal service. Specialized experience includes: experience performing work in an Office of Inspector General (OIG), demonstrated detailed knowledge of functional processes of IG inspections and/or investigations; AND experience teaching or instructing adult learning, demonstrated knowledge of instructional design and delivery methodology and techniques.

Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social) is qualifying. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience.
Qualification and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Applicants who have held a non-temporary General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the time-in-grade restriction.
