You will serve as a Security Specialist in the Naval Air Station, Whidbey Island Administration (N04C) of NAVAL AIR STATION WHIDBEY ISLAND. Salary for the GS-07: $54,896 to $71,366 Salary for the GS-09: $67,147 to $87,291

Duties

You will advise on personnel security policies and related matters. You will determine eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information. You will prepare and present various security awareness lectures and personnel security indoctrinations and debriefings to students and staff members. You will purchase necessary supplies for the division and maintain cost center for funds allocated for special security activities. You will conduct interviews one on one with all ranks and pay grades regarding personnel security clearances.

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

For the GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Interpreting personnel security program policies and regulations to determine the most effective methods to communicate requirements and ensure consistent implementation within the installation; 2) Conducting security termination debriefs with separating personnel to provide direction on safeguarding sensitive information; 3) Verifies security clearances of newly gained employees ensuring adequate clearance prior to beginning work. NOTE: Experience must be fully supported in your resume to be considered for this position. For the GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Advocating to budget planners the needs of multiple departments enabling them to fulfill mission requirements; 2) Advising on all administrative aspects related to travel during (and upon return from) deployments; 3) Tracking and receiving supplies and reconciles purchases with budgets. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

For the GS-09:
Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Completed two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree
OR
