About the Position: About the Position: This position is located in the Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, Washington. Tacoma is a diverse city nestled between Seattle and the state capital of Olympia. Tacoma is located on the shores of Commencement Bay, within pristine eyesight of Mount Rainier. Duties

Provide expertise in Behavioral Health, Psychosocial and Crisis Intervention for Individuals seeking treatment and care in an emergency room setting. Develop individualized treatment plans for each case based on psychiatric, cognitive, psychosocial, environmental, and medical needs. Utilize social work systems, theories, and principles that impact patient care. Work with highly complex cases in which individuals are severely impacted by moderate to severe psychiatric diagnoses to include a history of trauma, physical abuse, neglect, exploitation, co-occurring conditions, and suicide. Select, administer, and interpret instruments for the purpose of assisting in the diagnosis and assessment of treatment plans with behavioral/psychiatric disorders. Collect bio-psycho-social information about patients using interviewing, case history, observation, and various assessment methods.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
  • This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • This position requires applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 30 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Social Worker (Clinical): Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations, providing individual or group clinical counseling, and developing treatment plans and/or recommendations for behavioral health patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11) Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.
