This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is with Directorate Family Morale Welfare Recreation, Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington.
Duties
Responsible for the Family Advocacy Program, to include accountability for the quality and types of services provided and for overall program effectiveness and promoting acceptance of the program.
Independently plan, implement, and manage the diverse program services based on professional knowledge of social and behavioral sciences, administrative and service skills, and knowledge of Army and command policies, objectives and priorities.
Coordinate the prevention, direct services, administration, evaluation, and training efforts of the Family Advocacy Program on the installation to ensure regulatory compliance and a fully coordinated community response.
Develop community, command and troop education and prevention programs.
Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, and the capabilities of employees; provides technical oversight.
Develop performance plans, evaluates work performance of subordinates, and provides recommended ratings of record.
As the senior subject matter expert for the Garrison on the dynamics of abuse, treatment and prevention modalities, psychosocial issues, social service delivery, case management and psycho educational approaches to assist individuals and families.
Provide command information regarding emerging prevention and treatment issues and trends and results of prevention programs conducted.
Requirements

- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Social Worker: Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes interviewing victims, offenders, children, and/or family members regarding allegations of domestic violence, child abuse or neglect; providing crisis intervention or therapy to abusers or victims of abuse; developing treatment plans to those involved in abuse; and providing administrative or technical oversight to others. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Selective Placement Factor: This position requires 2 years of experience working in the field of child abuse and domestic abuse.
License: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
