About the Position: This position is located at Madigan Army Medical Center, Department of Behavioral Health, Family Advocacy Program, Tacoma, Washington. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. This position is being filled under the Expedited Hiring Authority for Shortage Category and/or Critical Need Health Care Occupations.

Duties

Provide technical oversight in the development of treatment plans by lower graded staff. Prepare written diagnoses to document patient assessments and/or treatments. Refer individuals to services to prevent or reduce the risk of abuse. Develop treatment plans for family advocacy patients by utilizing the psychosocial Select I assessment previously completed. Provide therapeutic treatment to those involved in domestic violence, child abuse or neglect in accordance with treatment plans.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
  • One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA). Advanced certification (e.g., Advanced Life Support) does not supersede BLS completion.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Supervisory Social Worker (Family Advocacy): Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: interviewing behavioral health patients involved in domestic violence or child maltreatment, obtaining various information (such as legal documents, investigation reports, social services notes, school records, etc.) necessary to make a determination of domestic violence or child maltreatment, preparing required reports and/or notes for behavioral health patients medical records, developing treatment plans, and making recommendations to multi-disciplinary teams. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. Selective Placement Factor: This position requires 2 years of experience working in the field of child abuse and domestic abuse. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
