This position is in support of the Military Commissions Defense Organization (MCDO), which is responsible for providing defense legal services to detainees being tried in military commissions convened under the Military Commissions Act of 2009. This position serves as a Defense Information Security Officer on a MCDO defense team and requires expertise on a broad range of security duties, including overseeing information security, classification guidance, and protective orders.

Duties

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Provides direction and oversight and advises defense counsel and other team members on complying with regulations related to the proper handling and dissemination of classified information. Identifies information requiring protection and determining the level of protection required and monitors and identifies information security discrepancies. Implements required information security programs and is the initial point of contact for all security matters related to their assigned defense team. Ensures all material to be introduced and/or displayed in court or in other locations has undergone appropriate reviews prior to being introduced.

  • This position requires the incumbent to possess a Top-Secret Clearance with access to Special Compartmentalized Information and Special Access Programs
  • Travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations is required, in both military and civilian transportation modes
  • This position may be require you to work other than normal duty hours

Read more about what should I include in my federal resume? at https://www.usajobs.gov/Help/faq/application/documents/resume/what-to-include/ You may qualify at the GS-14 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to: Utilizing classification guides and information security policies, procedures, and regulations to protect classified information; Developing procedures of identifying and protecting classified information; Providing advice regarding the usability of classified information; and, Analyzing materials or information to recommend improved security approaches to protecting classified information. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
