About the Position: The person in this position will serve as the Supervisory Social Worker at Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center, in Ft. Belvoir, VA. The position is within the Adult Outpatient Behavioral Health Department.

Duties
Manage, plan, and direct assigned social work services.
Apply current directives, regulations, and accepted clinical principles and practices in directing the treatment functions of social work services.
Ensure initial interviews, evaluations, and treatment are in accordance with established policies and current guidelines.
Perform caseload work, including special problem cases, beyond the professional capability of the other clinical staff.
Provide individual or group therapy and supervise all other clinical staff performing same.
Conduct internal personnel administration and management.
Establish performance appraisals and discuss performance with subordinates.
Plan and organize work to meet workload demands and to equalize caseloads among staff members.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position may require the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 2 Security Investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation is required.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position may require the incumbent to work on an on-call basis within the Emergency Department. The on-call shift may include nights and/or weekends.
- Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
- This position may have specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties may require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
- Additional requirements may be determined as positions arise and will be communicated during the hiring process.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Basic Requirements for Supervisory Social Worker:
Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting psychosocial evaluations; providing individual and/or group therapy; and leading others in work related duties. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. (NOTE: You must provide a copy of your license with your application package.)
