About the Position: The person in this position will serve as the Supervisory Social Worker, and primary assistant to the Director with the day-to-day managerial, administrative and clinical management of the Directorate of Behavioral Health of a Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Provide assistance in the management, direction and oversight of multiple geographically dispersed Behavioral Health Clinics. Oversee and monitor the directorate’s budget. Assist Director with long-range and short-range work plans and program development for the various clinical areas. Establish, review and/or modify Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the service to ensure that the delivery and coordination of clinical services is consistent with the service lines. Develop a range of alternative solutions to contractual problems to ensure a continuum of clinical services. Serve as the Directorate’s liaison with Senior Officers. Develop and/or implement procedures for ensuring appropriate communication and coordination with internal and external healthcare proponents. Perform bio-psychosocial evaluations, and analyzes clinical assessments of patients. Conduct psychosocial assessments and evaluate patients with particularly difficult and complex psychosocial problems to identify diagnostic considerations. Oversee all Joint Commission readiness initiatives for the Directorate as well as quality and process improvement initiatives. Provide direct clinical oversight to psychology interns, psychiatry residents, and psychology graduate students on specialized psychological assessments.

• A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

• This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.

Basic Requirements for Supervisory Social Worker: Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting social work services to clients and/or patients, providing crisis intervention counseling, developing treatment plans, and instructing others on work or administrative matters. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). License: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted independent social work clinical licensure from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
