You will serve as a Museums & Collections Deputy Assistant Director for NAVAL HISTORY AND HERITAGE COMMAND.

Duties

You will fulfil a critical role in daily operational planning and execution within the division, using effective leadership and management skills to ensure that branch heads are properly resourced to be operationally capable of executing to plan. You will manage a number of administrative functions within Museums and Collections (MAC) including budget planning and execution, correspondence tracking, staff professional development, and internal and external reporting. You will provide strategic guidance and advice to the assistant director with respect to historic property management and conservation as well as museum management for NHHC museum, art, curator and underwater archaeology. You will work with the assistant director to develop and implement strategic marketing and outreach initiatives that use the command’s website and social media to promote the resources and capabilities of NHHC goals and programs. You will work with and guide division staff in effectively designing and using data gathering and analysis methods and tools to achieve the goal of effectively measuring MAC performance at the branch, museum, division, and enterprise levels. You will participate in historical, archival, bibliographic, outreach and other initiatives of strategic importance to the NHHC senior leadership.

  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public applying a mastery knowledge of program leadership and management within service organizations and technical functions, including budget planning and execution for program budgets. I also have a knowledge of the U.S. Department of the Navy history, structure, and processes. Examples of specialized experience must include most or all of the following: 1) Applying knowledge or experience in business development, marketing, or institutional outreach; 2) Utilizing knowledge and experience in researching, assembling, compiling, and analyzing data to prepare planning, programming, and budget reports, briefs, and other management tools and products; 3) Applying various supervisory skills, including performance plan development, work assignments, and leading ad hoc and cross functions teams toward defined goals; and 4) Utilizing expert computer skills in Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access Database.
