This position is located at Departmental Offices, Management CFO- Info Systems and CIO. As an IT Specialist (INFOSEC), you will provide advice and guidance on developing and implementing policies, programs, and procedures to ensure the security and reliability of information systems throughout the organization.

Duties

As an IT Specialist (INFOSEC), you will: Provide technical advice on the design, development, and implementation of information security policies and procedures. Conduct risk assessment programs to identify areas of potential vulnerability in operating systems used throughout the organization. Prioritize and schedule areas to be evaluated and develop assessment criteria. Analyze findings and develop and present recommendations to higher level IT Specialists on methods to prevent security incidents and ensure systems reliability. Evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs. Identify new processes, techniques, and procedures to upgrade and enhance security protocols. Consult with other IT Specialists to make recommendations on strategies and policies that govern implementation of security and reliability procedures throughout the organization. Participate on project teams to implement systems security programs and to integrate IT security with other disciplines. Conduct systems security evaluations, audits, and reviews. Gather and analyze findings, organize documentation, consult with systems users, and develop recommendations used to identify and define systems security requirements. Monitor application of approved security procedures by systems users.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience for the GS-12: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as proven proficiency and supportable (as evidenced in the resume) hands-on experience in ALL of the following: Presenting technical and non-technical information to peers, managers, and executives, and working collaboratively across large enterprises or industry sectors; AND Providing cyber security support, such as risk benefit analysis of information technology security; AND Providing solutions and problem resolution to customers with a strong sense of commitment and drive towards customer service; AND Consulting with other IT Specialists to make recommendations on strategies and policies that govern implementation of security and reliability procedures throughout the organization. In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
