You will serve as a SUPPLY TECHNICIAN in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

Use an automated system (e.g., Maximo, FEDMALL, GSA, Grainger, etc.) to track material status and inform others of delivery dates. You will conduct extensive and thorough research of material requests, and provide detailed updates to customers regarding their requests. You will accomplish document control work (e.g., processing receipts, adjusting documents) according to established organizational supply policies and procedures. You will prepare data analysis and supply reports to regulate inventory and budget expenditures. You will respond to customer inquiries to resolve supply issues and suggest alternative sources in accordance with established procedures. You will liaison with purchasing and contracting departments in order to resolve problems pertaining to purchases, invoices, vendor disputes, pricing, deliveries, etc.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience: To meet the minimum qualifications for the GS-07:Your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying supply regulations, policies, procedures, techniques and methods to conduct purchases. Maintaining automated supply systems/programs (e.g., MAXIMO) in accordance with governing procedures. Receiving, reviewing, screening and executing Material Request Forms (MRFs) / Purchase Requests (PRs) / Purchase Orders (POs) using automated supply systems/programs (e.g., MAXIMO). Resolving discrepancies with material orders by arranging for the replacement, exchange or return for credit of defective and/or erroneous materials and transportation. To meet the minimum qualifications for the GS-06:Your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Organizing and tracking inventory of supplies for proper disposal of excess items. Researching supply regulations, policies, procedures, techniques and methods to assist higher level technicians with purchasing. Tracking inventory of various supplies by entering data into an automated supply system (e.g., Maximo).
