Duties

This position is located under the Office of Professional Responsibility and Security Operations (OPRSO), Personnel Security Division, Intake & Operations Branch in Washington, District of Columbia.

Qualifications

To qualify, candidates must have at least one year of Specialized Experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. Additional Conditions of Employment: GS-09 - You qualify if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience, performing the following duties: Assists with pre-employment screening and makes interim clearance or temporary eligibility recommendations; and Assists in the development of investigation guidelines, procedures and forms; and Recommends revisions to pertinent guidelines, procedures and forms when updates occur. OR A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. OR A combination of successfully completed graduate school and education to meet qualification requirements that equal to at least 100 percent. Only graduate education in excess of the first year may be used to qualify (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts). Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level. GS-11: You qualify if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience, performing the following duties: Assists in determining if reciprocity criteria were properly applied to the investigation based on previous background investigations conducted; and Assists in determining that the type of investigation requested is appropriate for the identified positions; conducts pre-employment screening and makes interim clearance or temporary eligibility recommendations; and Conducts investigative inquiries in Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Facility; and Assists in ensuring that all issues are fully investigated, and all relevant facts are developed in order to protect the interests of the organization and the rights of the employee, applicant or contractor. OR A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts). OR A combination of successfully completed graduate school and education to meet qualification requirements that equal to at least 100 percent. Only graduate education in excess of the first year may be used to qualify (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).
