You will serve as a FIREFIGHTER (BLS/HAZMAT TECHNICIAN) in the COMMANDER, NAVAL INSTALLATIONS COMMAND of NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY NORFOLK NSY.

Duties

You will administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillation (AED) for a patient. You will operate firefighting equipment (e.g., pumps, foam generators, boom, ground sweep nozzles) to control or eliminate fires. You will establish on-scene control procedures (e.g., zone control, decontamination) in a hazardous material incident. You will position firefighting vehicles in consideration of external factors (e.g., wind direction, sources of water, hazards from falling structures, location of armament on aircraft).

Qualifications

FOR GS-07 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following: 1) Operating specialized firefighting equipment to control or extinguish fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department/brigade; 2) Performing rescue operations; 3) Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; 4) Controlling hazardous materials incidents and reacting to releases or potential releases of hazardous materials as part of the initial response to the incident site to protect nearby persons, property, or the environment from the effects of a release; 5) Appling basic emergency medical techniques, including patient assessment, patient treatment, rescue breathing, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and noninvasive medical procedures; and 6) Driving and Operating various firefighting vehicle/apparatus and support equipment.** NOTE: THIS INFORMATION MUST BE SUPPORTED IN YOUR RESUME TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION.
