This position is located in the Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Administration (OA), Human Resources Division (HRD), Personnel and Physical Security Branch (PPSB). DOJ's mission is to uphold the rule of law, keep the country safe and protect civil rights. OJP's mission is to provide leadership, resources, and solutions for creating safe, just and engaged communities. OA provides building and emergency management, resource provision and multi-media services to OJP offices.
Duties
Serves as Lead Personnel Security Specialist in the Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Administration (OA), Human Resources Division (HRD), Personnel and Physical Security Branch (PPSB).
Implements, evaluates and provides guidance on personnel security.
Plans and manages OJP's personnel security operations.
Leads security reviews with high-ranking officials regarding the maintaining or upgrading of their background investigations and clearances.
Works with security specialists/program managers in arranging for the security of public meetings, press conferences and meetings when both internal and external officials are involved.
Determines the adequacy and completeness of investigations and evaluates the authenticity, veracity and pertinence of the data presented for the adjudication process and the issuance of a HSPD-12 credentials as prescribed by DOJ policies and directives.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Examples of specialized experience include:
Leads and/or advises on personnel security programs and operations for adjudicative and national security clearances for complex and/or difficult requests.
Advises on a wide variety of complex and/or difficult personnel security matters.
Manages and/or reviews special investigations for complex, critical and/or extremely sensitive national security issues requiring resolution or advanced adjudication knowledge.
Assists and/or coaches other security specialists on complex or unusual background investigations.
