About the Position: This position is a Research Protocol Coordinator (Office Automation) with the Department of Nursing located at Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC), performing a broad range of administrative duties in support of the research program ensuring compliance with the Federal Common Rule regulations to protect human research personnel, providing assistance in planning, implementation, data management and finalization of project for research staff.

Duties

Serves as the department expert for the electronic Institutional Review Board (IRB) and trains researchers on its use. Manages the GME program's research operating budget under the direct supervision of the Director. Ensure all researchers and projects are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and standards. Tracks and ensures self and all investigators are current on required training. Provides assistance to research staff in the planning, implementation, data management, and completion of projects. Maintains all research files in accordance with granting agency's regulations. Performs vast majority of communication with the Institutional Review Board (IRB) via email, phone, in person or electronic Institutional Review Board (IRB). Communications with grant program managers, outside institutions, auditing agencies and others as required. Performs a variety of computer functions to include use of word, excel, pivot tables, access and other automated functions. Proof reads all documents for such items as grammar, spelling, and formatting. Provides answers to customer inquiries within established time lines. Serves as the department expert for the electronic Institutional Review Board (IRB) and trains researchers on its use.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain a positive National Agency Background Check (NACI).
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • This position requires a qualified typist. A typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
