About the Position: The Defense Health Agency Center of Excellence is seeking to fill a Human Resources Assistant (Recruitment & Placement) position. This individual will provide recruitment and placement support services for HR Specialists.
Duties
Provide recruitment and placement support services to Human Resources Specialists.
Respond to customer inquiries relating to application procedures, recruitment status, and hiring processes.
Extend job offers, conduct pre-employment screenings and assist selectees during pre-employment processes.
Use automated systems to track and update statuses on personnel actions.
Coordinate entrance on duty/release dates, review new hire documents, and new employee orientation or in-processing briefings.
Conduct recruitment for common lower-grade positions, as needed.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 1 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
Qualifications
Position is a GS-06 level with promotion potential to a GS-07 level. The position may be filled at either a GS-06 or GS-07 level. If selected at the GS-06 level; noncompetitive promotion to the next grade level is authorized; pending time in grade requirements and demonstrated ability to perform at the next higher/target level grade duties.

Basic Requirements for GS-06 level:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing administrative support in a civilian HR setting; reviewing and maintaining files; and utilizing automated systems to perform administrative tasks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR
Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Human Resources.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting civilian HR Specialists with recruitment and placement tasks; reviewing new hire or employee documents for completeness and accuracy; researching applicable laws, rules, regulations, or policies to provide accurate recruitment and placement guidance to selectees and/or hiring managers; and utilizing automated systems to perform human resources tasks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
OR
Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Human Resources.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
