This position involves providing clerical and technical support for military personnel programs, or operations.
Duties
Provide clerical support to ensure efficient office operations.
Responsible for processing separations, retirements, reassignments, personnel service actions, and or related actions for enlisted and officer personnel, and ensuring service records are properly documented.
Ensure the operation and interface of a variety of automated systems supporting military personnel functions and operations, used to manage service members both locally and service wide.
Process, coordinate, validate, and ensure effective operations of one or more military personnel programs including, but not limited to, Enlisted Personnel Manning, Personnel Processing, Contingency Operations/Mobilization, Records Management, etc.
Develop, update, and maintain procedural and policy guidance, including distribution policy.
Resolve complex or unprecedented problems and assists lower graded employees in meeting mission goals and objectives.
Ensure all required forms, records and files pertaining to assigned work are obtained and maintained.
Prepare reports, statistical analysis, and briefings, as needed.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 1 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- This position may be "Emergency-Essential," overriding transportation agreements or military recall status. In crises or wartime, incumbents must ensure combat operations' success or support vital systems post-mobilization or evacuation.
- This position MAY require employee to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Performing various administrative tasks, such as drafting correspondence, coordinating meetings, managing mail, and assisting with documentation preparation, to support the efficient operation of HR functions; (2) Processing various personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, reassignments, separations, retirements, and awards; (3) Providing quality customer service and counseling to military personnel on HR-related matters, including benefits, entitlements, career development, and transition assistance; and (4) Utilizing specialized military personnel systems and databases to process personnel actions, maintain records, generate reports, and/or perform data analysis accurately and efficiently. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Human Resources.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
