This position is part of the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy - Headquarters, Department of Energy. As a Supervisory Budget Analyst (Deputy Director), you will provide analysis, information and decision support material to assist Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Office Directors and other EERE management in planning, budget formulation, and budget defense to facilitate meeting EERE's corporate mission and goals.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-14) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting at least 2 of the following: Demonstrated experience planning, directing, or coordinating the financial activities an organizational unit responsible for leading budget formulation and execution of a multi-billion-dollar budget, including planning, analysis, budget formulation and execution, and audit for a large and complex organization. Demonstrated experience applying budget-related laws, regulations, policies, precedents, methods, or techniques to recommend approval, disapproval, or modification of budget requests and justifications. Demonstrated experience in ensuring funds control compliance with budget floors/ceilings and statutory/administrative limitations imposed by Office of Management and Budget guidelines and performing in-depth analysis by reviewing financial and operational documents and other program reports for the development of recommendations to resolve problems such as funding shortfalls. Demonstrated experience providing analysis of new or revised legislation to ascertain financial impact on operations and advising senior staff on the management of financial and personnel resources to include providing financial management leadership, technical assistance, and problem-solving advice to management staff including administrative personnel for phases of the budget process. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
