This position is located in the Department of the Treasury (Treasury), Office of International Affairs (IA), Office of Investment Security (OIS). The primary purpose of this position is to act as an alternate Special Security Representative (SSR) providing personnel, information, and physical security support to OIS personnel.

Duties

As a Security Specialist, you will: - Assist the OSP Physical Security Division to ensure that IA SCIFs meet physical security standards as required by regulation. - Provide advice and assistance on security matters to Treasury's Cognizant Security Authority (CSA), other Treasury officials, and supported activities. - Advise IA/OIS personnel on security matters requiring explanations of regulations and established policy. - Conduct, manage, or coordinate required collateral and SCI personnel security actions and procedures, to include access approvals and transmission of clearance access verification messages for government and contractor personnel.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized experience for the GS-12: The applicant must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes ALL of the following: -Analyzing and applying laws, principles, concepts, policies, practices or regulations governing special security programs in order to review, analyze, and resolve security problems; AND -Developing and preparing explanations of facts to express recommendations; AND -Providing guidance to lower-level specialists regarding special security process; AND -Applying practical security principles, concepts and methods in carrying out assignments. Specialized experience for the GS-11: The applicant must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes ALL of the following: -Analyzing and applying laws, principles, concepts, policies, practices or regulations governing special security programs in order to review, analyze, and resolve security problems; AND -Developing and preparing explanations of facts to express recommendations; AND -Applying practical security principles, concepts and methods in carrying out assignments. OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. OR You may qualify by a combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 2 years may be combined with experience. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education. Specialized experience for the GS-9: The applicant must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes ALL of the following: -Drafting correspondence and communication related to personnel, physical, special security, or information security processing.; AND -Preparing materials or writing letters.; AND -Providing guidance regarding the personnel/physical or INFOSEC security processes; AND -Applying practical security principles, concepts and methods in carrying out assignments. OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Master's or equivalent graduate degree, if related; OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, if related; or LL.B. or J.D., if related; OR You may qualify by a combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours may be combined with experience.
