You will serve as a FIREFIGHTER (BLS/HAZMAT TECH) of NAS JAX.

Duties

You will determine the extent of damage from hazardous materials to a container. You will perform acceptance testing on fire protection systems, fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, or smoke-heat detection systems. You will monitor a patient's baseline vital signs (e.g., temperature, blood pressure, pulse) during a medical emergency.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Responding to fires and fire related emergencies involving structures, aircraft, motor vehicles, wild land, and hazardous materials, and administering emergency care within the scope of a Basic Life Support provider. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I/II, Airport Firefighter, HazMat Technician, Driver Operator Pumper, Driver Operator ARFF, Driver Operator Aerial Also requires National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT).
