You will serve as a Technical Writer-Editor (Doctrine) in the Learning/Academics Section of Marine Corps Artillery Detachment of TRAINING AND EDUCATION COMMAND.

Duties

You will serve as the doctrine writer, researcher, and analyst who participates in the development, refinement, and writing of doctrine for all aspects. You will develop, analyzes, organizes, plans, coordinates, and produces Field Artillery, Fire Support, and Field Artillery Target Acquisition (collectively considered Artillery Operations doctrine) related materials. You will prepare and coordinates assigned doctrinal materials. You will provide research results and historical input to other authors and writers when historical expertise is required in formulating doctrinal writing on joint, interagency, intergovernmental, and multinational operations. You will conduct special research and produces studies to assist development of Artillery operations doctrine and doctrinal concepts. You will review, analyze, and provide comments and recommendations on documents relating to proposed Artillery operations doctrine, organizational changes, equipment developments, and new concepts forwarded for review.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Producing a coherent operational framework to serve as organization's operations doctrinal publication; 2) Conducting artillery literature research, conceptualizing doctrinal requirements, developing logical positions, and presenting results via memorandums, reports, studies, and formal briefings; and 3) Participating on teams to conduct artillery studies or to propose artillery doctrinal concepts by evaluating, commenting on, and making recommendations on doctrinal concepts, requirements, and materials resulting from such studies. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
