You will serve as a TECHNICAL WRITER-EDITOR (DOCTRINE) in the Training Command (TRNGCMD) of TRAINING AND EDUCATION COMMAND.

Duties

You will develop Artillery operations doctrine related to joint, multinational, and USMC operations within GCE proponent responsibilities. You will prepare and coordinate assigned doctrinal materials. You will conduct special research and produces studies to assist development of Artillery operations doctrine and doctrinal concepts for future joint and USMC operations. You will perform limited research to determine the operational concepts, organizational and logistical restraints, legal and policy constraints, and human engineering factors necessary to develop or adjust supporting doctrine. You will review, analyze, and provide comments and recommendations on documents relating to proposed Artillery operations doctrine, organizational changes, equipment developments, and new concepts forwarded for review.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: producing doctrinal and training publications, conducts technical editorial reviews of manuscripts, and managing doctrine and training publications throughout their editorial review, design and layout, and preparation for final publishing. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. Education must have included a total of 15 semester hours in an appropriate scientific, technical, or social science field(s), and at least one course above the introductory level in the field(s) covered by the position. For technical manuals and specifications writers or editors, the equivalent of 15 semester hours may have been gained through vocational or educational training above the high school level at a public, private, or Armed Forces school.

OR

Three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Education must have included a total of 15 semester hours in an appropriate scientific, technical, or social science field(s), and at least one course above the introductory level in the field(s) covered by the position. For technical manuals and specifications writers or editors, the equivalent of 15 semester hours may have been gained through vocational or educational training above the high school level at a public, private, or Armed Forces school.

Combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
