This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Coast Guard, CG PACAREA, CGD Seventeen, Sector Southeast Alaska CMD CADRE, Sector Southeast Alaska, in Juneau, Alaska. There is a 1.69% (of basic pay) Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) authorized for this position location. Duties

In this position as a Command Center Watchstander, you will be responsible for maintaining information management, situational awareness, command and control over all Coast Guard operations in the Sector are of responsibilityBeing a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • The applicant is subject to pre-appointment and random drug testing.
  • Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • This position requires a Secret clearance.
  • The position requires a valid state driver's license.

Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one of the following:A. One year of specialized experience at the GS-09 grade level or equivalent that demonstrates the following:  Collecting initial information to classify search and rescue (SAR) cases and begin case documentation;  Coordinating with other government agency resources to conduct drug interdiction, alien migrant interdiction, fisheries enforcement and unlawful or criminally negligent   pollution;  Conducting control measures and boardings of designated vessels arriving in ports and maintaining oversight of efforts to establish and protect security zones around   vessels;  writing final situation reports about search and rescue (SAR) cases. ORB. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, if relatedOR3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, if relatedORLL.M., if relatedORC. A combination of successfully completed equivalent education and experience. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application. Education must be related and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.  You must attach unofficial transcript(s)-see Required Documents.Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.  National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.
