You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the MATERIAL SUPPORT DIVISION, ENGINEERING & PLANNING DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will research trends and patterns to develop new methods and criteria.
You will refine guidelines to resolve specific complex or intricate issues.
You will interpret policy and regulatory requirements in terms of establish objectives.
You will monitor work for compliance to technical and contract requirements.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
FOR THE GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience adjudicating NAVSEA Level I, Scope of Certification (SOC), Fly-By-Wire (FBW) Submarine Flight Critical Component (SFCC), and Controlled Industry Material (CIM) requirements;
Experience applying practical knowledge of unique materials and fabrication standards used in ship construction;
Experience utilizing associated equipment needed to perform shipboard systems maintenance, repair, and overhaul requirements;
Experience formulating inspections and test requirements for acceptance of controlled materials used in Naval ships and submarines;
Experience understanding how interrelated parts and components work to accurately acquire the right parts within an overall system;
Experience providing guidance to others to develop skills needed to perform assigned duties.
FOR THE GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
