As a Supervisory Recreation Fee Specialist, you will serve as the technical authority for the resolution of especially difficult or sensitive technical problems associated with the collection and tracking of fee revenue and donations. In addition, you will supervise a minimum of four subordinates that perform clerical and technical Recreation Fee Program work.
Duties
Interpret for management and subordinate employees the policies and regulations related to the collection of various fee types and authorities
Evaluate financial records to reconcile transactions and ensure proper accounting of fees collected
Prepare work schedules and provide training and guidance to employees, volunteers, and interns involved in fee collection or front line visitor services
Troubleshoot fee collection devices, like point of sale systems, scanners, and tablets
Complete financial reports to document shift activities and assist in organizational planning and budget development
Resolve difficult customer service problems, including issuing or deny refunds and handling fee waiver requests
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. citizen or national.
- Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- May be subject to a one-year probationary period, including a one year supervisory probation.

- Status candidates must meet-time-in-grade requirements.
- You will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
- You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
- A valid state driver's license is required.
Qualifications
In order to be qualified for this position, you must possess one of the following:
A. One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal service, providing guidance to other employees on fee collection policies and procedures; analyzing receipts and financial transactions to resolve discrepancies or customer problems; completing a variety of financial reports to account for fees collected; and recommending new policies, procedures, or technologies to improve fee collection program operations - OR -
B. I possess two years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a degree in business, finance, public administration, accounting, or another closely related field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position; or possess an LLB or JD - OR -
C. I possess a combination of specialized experience as described in A and graduate level education as described in B that, when combined, equal 100% of the total requirement. (Please note: Only graduate education in excess of the first year - normally 18 semester hours - may be used in this calculation.)
For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience.
For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected.
