You will serve as a PRODUCTION INSIDE SHOP MANAGER in the Electrical/Electronics Shop (Code 950), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will develop and execute work schedules, including the interface with multiple projects and production shops ensuring all accepted and potential work, testing, and training requirements are included in the production schedules.
You will review major event timelines, benchmarks, and schedules for technical work documents.
You will review all work packages to ensure early identification and ordering of material will support timelines and work schedule dates.
You will identify the need and availability of specialized material, support facilities, and equipment, and ensure critical jobs are identified and designated as such in accordance with the technical requirements and sequences.
You will determine short and long range needs for resources.
You will review cost and progress reports to anticipate and/or initiate corrective action prior to exceeding cost limits or failing to meet production schedules.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying production and technical methods associated with repair and overhaul of navy vessels.
Experience applying new methods/techniques to resolve complicated technical issues or problems.
Experience coordinating various production trades to accomplish overhaul and repair work on ships and submarines.
Experience analyzing long and short range resources required for administering trade specific work to support repair on multiple ship platforms.
Experience in all aspects of shipyard productions, such as, workflow, plant layout, safety, production control and engineering work standards.
