The position is being filled under the FTC Partnership in Education Program (PIE Program). The Student Trainees will receive opportunities for learning in a professional work environment that focuses on FTC career-related fields. The vision of success is to improve high school students' performance and graduation rates and provide an opportunity to put academics in a practical context.

Duties

As a Student Trainee at the FTC, you will assist higher-level staff with various administrative and clerical support responsibilities, and support the offices within the FTC. As a Student Trainee, you will perform the following duties that may include, but are not limited to:

Requirements

  • You must be at least 16 years of age or older.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.

  • You must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment on at least a half-time basis in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges).

Qualifications

To be eligible, you must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment on at least a half-time basis in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, or trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate. Certificate programs are defined as post-secondary education, in a qualifying educational institution, equivalent to at least one academic year of full-time study that is part of an accredited college-level, technical, trade, vocational, or business school curriculum. Veterans' preference applies in the hiring process. In order to receive preference in hiring, you must clearly identify your claim for veterans' preference when you apply. Must maintain student eligibility and enrollment for the duration of the internship. If graduation from an undergraduate program is expected by Spring 2024, must be accepted for enrollment to a fall graduate program and able to provide verification of this acceptance. To qualify at the GS-1: You must be enrolled in a high school diploma or General Education Diploma program. Pathways Internship Program Requirements: Must be enrolled or accepted as a degree-seeking student. Must be enrolled or have been accepted for enrollment in an accredited school. Must be taking at least a half-time academic course load. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

If you qualify on the basis of education in lieu of experience, you must submit a copy of your transcripts. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted in the application package; however, official transcripts will be required prior to receiving an official offer.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
