This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will serve as the senior strategic analyst and is responsible for analysis and expertise that supports concept development, strategy development, joint strategic planning, risk evaluation and assessment, and doctrine development.
Duties
As a STRATEGIC ANALYST at the GS-0301-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Provides expertise and management capability for the maintenance, improvement, and promulgation of the Joint Strategic Planning System (JSPS).
Develops, staffs, and analyzes the Annual Joint Assessment (AJA) and/or similar processes and products.
Formulates recommendations for the methodology used by the Joint Staff, Services, and combatant commands to develop the CJCS's annual assessment of the Armed Forces' ability to execute the NMS and assess associated strategic and military risks.
Organizes and leads technical working groups, planning teams, seminars and conferences consisting of representatives from the Joint Staff, combatant commands, Services, and select Defense Agencies to analyze and promote common understanding of strategy and risk assessment issues, reconcile differences, and develop products informing CJCS advice and guidance.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service:
Developing, supporting, and employing methodologies that provide comprehensive analysis of strategic and military risk;
Preparing key personnel for participation in meetings with senior leaders from the Office of the Secretary Defense (OSD), combatant commands, Services, and other government agencies;
Applying communications, both oral and written, to develop policies and programs, coordinate their acceptance and implementation, and to negotiate solutions to disputed recommendations.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
