About the Position: Serves as Deputy/Full Assistant to the Chief, Operations Division (OD) responsible for assisting the Chief in all phases of the daily management of the OD.
Duties
Serves as technical advisor and consultant to the District Engineer in executing the District’s Civil Works Operations and Maintenance (O/M) programs and work activities.
Manages the large, complex and geographically dispersed OD organization and work program which involves navigation, flood risk management, recreation and natural resource management, environmental stewardship and hydropower.
Participates in and assists in the planning, directing, coordinating, and supervising of all functions, programs and activities assigned to the OD.
Provides advice, assistance, guidance and instructions to Branch Chiefs.
Reviews recommendations, proposals, actions taken, and completed work for attainment of objectives, adequacy, conformance with policies, financial, program and other guidelines and governing regulations, laws, and programs.
Represents the Division Chief in meetings, conferences, and staff meetings with authority to make decisions and commitments.
Requirements

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above to qualify for this position, you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating a variety of projects associated with facilities' operations and infrastructure maintenance in a large organization; overseeing complex operation and maintenance activities in support of field activities; and determining long-range plans for needs and resources which pertain to operation, maintenance, and management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
