This position is in Office of Environmental Justice and External Civil Rights, Office of External Civil Rights Compliance.  This is an office-centered position*--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.*Work-from-home flexibilities may be authorized as described in the Benefits section. Qualifications

NOTE:  You must meet qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement. To qualify for the GS-09 level, you must have one of the following: 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level defined as assisting in the research of civil rights related legal or policy matters; and preparing correspondence or communications; master's or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related; the education must provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position equivalent combination of education and experience To qualify for the GS-11 level, you must have one of the following: 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level defined as researching civil rights related legal or policy matters; and preparing or responding to professional correspondence or FOIA requests; Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., if related; the education must provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position equivalent combination of education and experience Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Knowledge of civil rights and environmental civil rights policies; 2) Ability to manage, coordinate, and organize the case files of the office; 3) Skill in document collection and evaluation; 4) Ability to identify resources required for the processing and collection of information related to case investigations; 5) Skill in records management; 6) Skill in written communication; 7) Skill in professional correspondence; 8) Skill in document analysis. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
