About the Position: : Carlisle Barracks is an installation at the center of the Army and Department of Defense Senior Leadership educational programs. This historic post supports missions such as the U.S. Army War College, U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center, and the Installation Management Command
Duties
Accomplish projects on behalf of the US Army War College (USAWC) Commandant by making decisions, recommendations, and/or taking actions necessary to carry out assigned responsibilities.
Coordinate schedules for the USAWC Commandant and other senior leadership at the USAWC and/or reschedule mutually convenient times for new appointments.
Coordinate the clerical and day-to-day administrative support activities.
Maintain a knowledge of the Commandant's policies and views on matters affecting the organization to manage situations and conflicts.
Provide advice to staff on executive policy, procedures, and scheduling matters.
Resolve conflicts, problems, and/or cumbersome procedures that affect the efficiency, effectiveness, and timeliness of office processes.
Prepare and reviews correspondence, reports, and other documents.
Compose draft outlines of pertinent data for the Commandant in the preparation of presentations and ceremonies.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) analyzing the effectiveness and/or efficiency of administrative programs; 2) recommending solutions to problems with administrative procedures; 3) scheduling appointments and/or maintaining calendar of activities for senior leadership; and 4) coordinating projects concerning organization-wide administrative issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
