The Telecommunications Specialist will provide expertise in telecommunication technologies to the Network and Telecommunications Branch and serves as a hands-on 3rd tier telecom support for the Courts, as well as within the Information Technology Division, to perform troubleshooting and resolve complex communications equipment problems.

Duties

The Telecommunications Specialist provides coverage outside of business hours, on-call support for critical systems on a rotating basis and, where necessary, work the occasional weekend/evening to perform maintenance, upgrades, and repairs or troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Background and security investigation are required.
  • A probationary period of one (1) year must be successfully completed.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Telecommunications Technology plus five (5) years of experience in telecommunications and network technologies. Current industry recognized technology certifications and/or Avaya certifications are a plus. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Knowledge of call center technology, voice systems and voice networks with emphasis in VoIP systems with both h.323 and SIP; Knowledge of Avaya Communication Manager (Avaya Aura Platforms) and Adjunct Administration, Maintenance, and Installation; Knowledge of VoIP, inbound and outbound voice networks, experience with network protocols and circuit provisioning and standards, understanding of LAN protocols; Ability to plan, investigate, design, and implement voice networks. The incumbent should be an enthusiastic and engaged professional who enjoys working with a diverse group of Court personnel and customers and lives the DC Courts’ values of Accountability, Excellence, Fairness, Integrity, Respect, and Transparency. Please note that authorization for the release of your adult criminal record revealing any convictions and forfeitures, and any criminal cases currently pending before the courts are required.  If you are selected for the position, a criminal history records check will be conducted.
