This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent serves as Defense Support Program Manager to plan, coordinate, facilitate, validate, monitor, and assess contingency operations and plans in the air, land, and maritime domains, and planned and emergent operations in the European AOR.
Duties
As a DEFENSE SUPPORT PROGRAM SPECIALIST at the GS-0301-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Coordinates the development of emergent and future force allocation and plans, to include integrating U.S. forces with European Allies and partners, including the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
Engages across a range of operational requirements including response to air, land, and maritime defense domains needs, theater security cooperation, exercises, building partner capacity, natural disasters, HA-DR, exercises, and other programs which support CJCS priorities.
Manages, oversees, and facilitates DoD support for planned or emergent operations and emergency responses in the European AOR.
Coordinating resources, authorities, policies, products, and staffing actions which support Combatant Command requirements to support operations and interagency requests for assistance in the European AOR. Provides rotational stand-by support for crisis management teams if activated in support of the National Joint Operations and Intelligence Center (NJOIC) via scheduled periods of on-call duty.
Serves as primary subject matter expert and advisor on crisis responses to contingency operations, complex catastrophes, HA-DR, and activities in the land, maritime, and air domains for the DDRO.
Applies detailed knowledge of DoD capabilities, authorities, policies, and plans in responding to crises, disasters, and emergencies, or HA-DR.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service:
Serving as a subject matter expert for contingency operations, regional plans, emergency management exercises, disaster response operations, and real-world contingency operations within the European areas of responsibility;
Recognizing military command structures and advises on crisis responses to complex catastrophes, human assistance disaster relief, and activities in the land, maritime, and air domains;
Reviewing the organization's planning, acquisition, and management processes to prepare long and short-range planning guidance in accordance with policies and objectives to direct special events, establishes, and reevaluates timeline-tracking techniques;
Interpreting, analyzing, and evaluating federal statutes, executive orders, presidential directives, new or modified legislation, DoD policies, procedures, and publications, Combatant Command plans, interagency agreements and plans, as well as international laws.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
