About the Position: Carlisle Barracks is an installation at the center of the Army and Department of Defense Senior Leadership educational programs. This historic post supports missions such as the U.S. Army War College, including the Center for Strategic Leadership, Strategic Studies Institute and USAWC Press, Peacekeeping and Stability Operations Institute, U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center, and Dunham U.S. Army Health Clinic and the Installation Management Command.

Duties

Manage the daily administrative functions. Maintains internal control of staff and administrative actions. Interprets and keeps management informed of new or revised external policies, regulations, and procedures. Manages schedules and resolves conflicting requirements. Manages the organization’s annual budget. Serves as the expert in government travel and the Defense Travel System (DTS).

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Term employment is subject to a one year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) providing customer service; 2) performing administrative office duties; AND 3) compiling and/or presenting data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-6).
