Duties
This position is located within the Office of Administrative Law Judges (OALJ). The OALJ is charged with resolving cases set for hearing concerning natural gas, oil, electric, and hydroelectric matters, in a manner that is consistent with the public interest, protects customers, and promotes competitive markets.
Requirements

- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- A background investigation is required.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- Generally, male applicants must be registered with the Selective Service.
- Relocation expenses will not be paid.

You must have one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is defined as: Specialized experience is defined as experience assisting judges with in person and remote hearings and settlement conferences; managing judge case files in SharePoint; providing real-time technical support for in person and remote administrative hearings and settlement conferences; and assisting the judges with managing the hearing record during administrative hearings. Specialized experience also includes performing detail oriented reviews of orders and initial decisions for quasi legal substantive errors, proper bluebook formatting, and grammatical errors and formatting errors in a fast-paced environment. Finally, specialized experience also includes researching a variety of quasi legal and procedural issues, as needed.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including any volunteer experience.
