This position is located in U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), Deputy Commandant for Mission Support, Office of Base Operations (DOL-3), BASE NOLA PERSONNEL SUPPORT DEPT LOCATED IN NEW ORLEANS, LA.
Duties
This position serves as Customer Service Assistant, providing primary contact for all Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) and Real-Time Automated Personnel Identification Card System (RAPIDS) customers; providing administrative and clerical support to ensure timely and proper issuance of military identification card, enrollment into the DEERS system., issuing Coast Guard vehicle decals to DHS and DOD personnel and their families; and time keeping administration.
Requirements
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- This position requires a Secret Clearance..
Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-06 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in researching and analyzing documents and regulations; knowledge of DEERS/RAPIDS operating system or similar systems; experience in investigating and resolving recurring problems; working knowledge of time keeping procedures; operating PC software; and communicate effective orally and verbally via telephone, mail and email to contact with internal and external customer.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
