About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the Strategic Systems Support Element (SSSE), Alexandria, Virginia.

Duties

Manages the sponsorship program for incoming unit members that graduate from Assessment and Students in the Operations Training Courses (OTC). Coordinates with a wide array of units to resolve issues which may prevent the Service Member from PCS'ing to the unit. Develops, implements, and revises standard operating procedures and policies covering all areas of the S1 and operational support for use by all Battalions and external participants during exercises and courses. Trains and mentors’ new participants in the exercises and courses on administrative and operational requirements. Provides training and guidance on evaluations, awards, training, timecards, and other miscellaneous administrative actions within the Battalion. Provides guidance and information regarding military evaluations and awards. Reviews and submits civilian hire packets in accordance with USASOC and higher headquarters guidance.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information.
  • Must pass the organization’s Personnel Reliability Program which includes credit check, drug screening, polygraph and psychological evaluation.
  • Incumbent must sign a statement attesting to the understanding of DCIPS provisions.
  • Travel may be required up to 50% of the time.
  • Must be willing and able to participate in the organization’s operations and training both CONUS and OCONUS.
  • Periodically, chiefly during periods of crisis, may be required to work overtime or irregular hours.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GG/GS-11).
